About Safer Child, Inc.

About Us

About Us:

Safer Child, Inc. is registered in the State of Washington as a non-profit corporation and is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization with federal tax-exempt status. All donations to Safer Child, Inc. are tax-deductible as provided by law.

Safer Child is dedicated to the health and safety of children and was founded by concerned parents who know how hard it can be to track down critical, up-to-date and objective information. This Web site is structured around getting you the information you need to make the best decisions. We aren’t experts, psychologists, doctors, sociologists, lawyers or politicians, so if you need professional advice, you should contact someone with appropriate credentials.

We are natural-born advocates, so if we see what we think is a "crooked picture," we do our best to encourage powers-that-be to "straighten the picture." Because we know not everyone will share our views - or even be interested in hearing them - we keep them tucked away in a tiny section at the end of "Advocacy/Opinion." If you're interested - you can view our efforts. But if you aren't interested - you can ignore our opinion and still get the objective information you're seeking.

And, as always, if you have any comment to make about our site – what’s on here, or what’s not - or if you know of some "crooked pictures" we haven't addressed, don’t be shy. Please give us some feedback. We want this site to work for you!

Below is a summary of our privacy policy.

Safer Child, Inc. is committed to protecting your on-line privacy when visiting our site. We do not collect and keep any personal information from you unless you volunteer it and you are 16 or older. You don't need to register with us in order to browse our site. We do not collect and keep personal information from children under the age of 16 without parental consent.

CHILDREN UNDER 16 YEARS OF AGE: Please be sure to read this policy with your parents and make sure you understand it. Please get a parent or guardian's permission before giving out your e-mail address or any other personal information to us -- or to anyone else on the Internet. You may browse our entire Web site without the need for registration or any personal contact. If you wish to ask us a question, we will respond to you and then delete your e-mail address from our files.

PARENTS: Parents, please help by spending time online with your children and monitoring their online activity. Instruct them to never provide personal information on this site or any other without your permission. You can ask to review the information your child has submitted to us, to delete your child's information and/or to not collect any more personal information from your child, by e-mailing us at lrogers@saferchild.org, or by writing to us at Safer Child, Inc., P.O. Box 48151, Spokane, WA, 99228-1151. Note: Due to the increasing numbers of computer viruses and worms that attach themselves to address books and send themselves automatically, the Safer Child Webmaster must now delete any messages that arrive without appropriate information in the subject line. Please help us help you by taking a moment to put appropriate information in the subject line of your message.

Any information you provide to us is kept secure. Only authorized Safer Child, Inc. representatives (who have agreed to keep the information secure) have access to stored information. We may use the personal information we collect for analysis or to contact you if we find the information you have requested. We will not at any time transfer or sell your personal information to commercial organizations. Only with your consent, and only if you are 16 or older, we may share your information with outside organizations that can provide you with your desired information or services. We might also disclose personal information if we believe that the disclosure is required by law. If at any time you wish to stop receiving information from Safer Child, Inc., simply let us know through our feedback page, or e-mail us at lrogers@saferchild.org.
