A Few Favorite Books & MagazinesDon't be afraid to challenge your younger children with books for older children. Edit them as you read, making them fun, interesting and age-appropriate. You'll be amazed at what your child will remember. Preschoolers can learn about all sorts of things, like the sun and the moon, like how birds fly, and why people sneeze. They can learn the names of dinosaurs, and how chickens hatch. Get them involved in science at an early age, and they'll be eager to learn more when they get to school. We do, however, recommend that you avoid scary books. We also suggest you avoid those well-meaning books that talk about being scared -- unless your child is already scared and needs reassurance. Sometimes children don't know to be scared unless we tell them to be.
