Safer Child's Vision, Mission & Philosophy

The Safer Child Vision:

Safer Child's vision is of a world in which every child is loved, well cared for and encouraged to grow up into a happy, well-adjusted adult.

The Safer Child Mission:

Safer Child's mission is dedicated to providing parents, caregivers and educators worldwide with the resources and information they need in order to help all children grow up healthy, safe and happy.

The Safer Child Philosophy:

Safer Child's philosophy is two-pronged:

  1. No one is born knowing how to parent, and so it’s both OK and smart to ask for help when it’s needed.
  2. Every child deserves a loving, safe and stable living environment in which to live (this environment includes the home, vehicle, school and community).

Safer Child's goal is to assist anyone looking for information and assistance on issues related to parenting, caregiving, child health and safety. As such, the worldwide advocacy, education and awareness programs this organization supports -- or is involved in -- include:

bulletPrenatal and postnatal health and safety issues (such as mother's health and diet, breastfeeding education and assistance, awareness and prevention of shaken baby syndrome, awareness and treatment for postpartum depression, etc.)
bulletChild health and safety issues in the home, vehicle, community and school.
bulletAbduction awareness and prevention.
bulletDomestic violence prevention and resolution.
bulletMentoring, volunteering and other programs for at-risk children.
bulletImproving skills in communication and conflict resolution.
bulletMental health assistance.
bulletImmunization programs.
bulletGood quality and affordable daycare.
bulletSubstance abuse prevention and rehabilitation.
bulletEffective parenting skills (discipline, communication, diet and nutrition, self-esteem, effective play, guidance and support, etc).
bulletCrisis assistance (physical, financial, medical, mental health and counseling, pregnancy).
bulletSupport for parents.
bulletHealth and social issue awareness and resolution (child abuse and neglect, teen pregnancy, abandoned children, ADHD concerns, media issues, Internet safety, etc.).
bulletEffective education and literacy (including programs for indigent populations and homeless children).
bulletIncreased access to education, information and referral programs (such as Safer Child).
