Sexuality and KidsMoms have influence. Research led by Dr. Robert Blum, University of Minnesota's Center for Adolescent Health and Development, indicated in September 2002 that teenage girls who have close relationships with their mothers tend to wait longer to have sex for the first time. Additionally, girls are less likely to have sex if their mothers disapprove. So don't give up on your teen. Don't think your opinion doesn't matter. Don't assume that, "Oh, well, she'll do it anyway." If she's able to look to her mother for guidance, she might not. |
