Winter Health & SafetyIf you know of organizations or information you'd like to see here, please let us know.
Winter Safety (environmental, home safety) The incidence of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome reportedly increases during the winter months - due to warmer rooms, more blankets, closed windows and other factors. Please take extra care during the winter months to make sure your baby isn't overheated or unable to breathe because of blankets, soft bedding or stuffed toys. See our SIDS page for more information.
We suggest for winter driving, you keep extra weight (sand bags or other heavy objects) in the trunk or back of your vehicle, to help improve traction. Make sure all snow and ice are brushed from your vehicle before you start moving. Slow down, but not to the point where you endanger other drivers. If you're afraid to drive on snow or ice, consider hiring a taxi or taking a bus. If the weather is very bad, and it isn't critical for you to get somewhere, consider staying home until the roads are cleared.
